We’re proud to share that Rock Paper Reality has won the Auggie Award for Best Location-Based Entertainment at AWE 2025, marking our second consecutive win.

RPR win AWE 2025

This year’s award recognizes our collaboration with Google on a world-first: the launch of AR content natively inside Google Maps, rolled out globally just ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Unlike traditional AR activations, this one was seamlessly integrated into the mobile Maps app, unlocking immersive historical experiences at 16 Parisian landmarks through Live View and Street View.

Whether exploring the Eiffel Tower’s never-built designs or visiting pavilions from the 1900 World’s Fair, users around the world could access dynamic, historically accurate AR reconstructions directly from their phones.

This wasn’t just about scale (though it reached over a billion monthly users). It was about storytelling. Our team worked closely with Google to combine original architectural records, expert research, and optimized 3D artistry to make each landmark visually stunning and fast to load.

The result was a first-of-its-kind activation that turned everyday navigation into cultural discovery. An experience that lived at the intersection of information, emotion, and place.

We share this recognition with our exceptional partners at Google and extend a huge thank-you to the entire RPR team for the passion, creativity, and late nights that brought this ambitious idea to life.

This win follows our 2024 AWE Auggie for the Japantown Geospatial AR experience and reaffirms our belief that when story, purpose, and technology align, immersive content has the power to connect far beyond the screen.
